EARLY CHILDHOOD PARENT ADVOCATE
Work with Multnomah County Educational Services District’s (MESD) Multnomah Early Childhood Program (MECP) to conduct informational meetings with parents and extended family members.
The Parent Advocate will introduce family members to MESD and MECP by providing program information helping to dispel myths around MESD and special education services.
Support families through entire process from identification to receiving MESD/MECP services to ensure clarity and quality of service.
The Parent Advocate will ensure that a family receives additional support services outside of MESD/MECP as deemed beneficial.
Schedule, meet and collaborate with other agencies that serve African-American families.
Provide specific recommendations and strategies to MESD based upon interactions with families.
Actively market MESD/MECP and BPI programs among the African American community in Multnomah County working with schools, churches, community agencies and organizations that serve primarily African-American families.
