The Black Parent Initiative (BPI) is a program developed to address the continuing educational gap between African American students and their counterparts in Portland schools.


Kali Ladd

Kali Ladd is a New England native; she earned a Masters Degree in Education Policy from Harvard University. Prior to graduate school, Kali became a Peace Corps volunteer moved to South Africa where she worked for 27 months on the development of education curriculum, community based projects, and AIDS awareness/violence prevention campaigns. Kali currently serves as in the Oregon Department of Education where she serves as a Policy Analyst. Recently married Kali has serves on many Boards and committees such as; The Urban League Professionals Committee, The Bridge Builders, and the Urban League High School Outreach (NULITES). Kali currently serves as a Board member of the Black Parent Initiative (BPI), a non-profit focused on increasing Parents involvement in schools, she also serves on The Pangara Project a non-profit centered on giving low-income youth opportunity to participate in service-learning projects overseas.
