Coordinate regular meetings/activities with the African-American forum. Conduct active outreach to parents and community members to participate in school events, volunteer opportunities, community projects and support groups.

Develop business/community relationship to bring resources to the school.

Conduct outreach to families of pre-school and kindergarten age children in the neighborhood to encourage registration and develop ways to engage them early in preparing their student for school.

Work with school staff to identify core factors contributing to academic, social-emotional or behavioral issues of identified struggling students and develop individualized plans with each student and family.

Parent Advocate will have an ongoing caseload of at least 9 African-American students. Develop relationships with parents/family members of identified students with the goal of addressing factors.

May include home visits or meetings with families outside of the school setting.

Assist families on caseload with navigating District processes such as special education, talented and gifted, discipline, etc.

Assist school administration with improving general student attendance.
